There was a girl in my class once who had this kind of weird lip twitch that she did when she talked… I found it insanely cool and immediately tried to copy it but couldn’t make the habit stick (which I’m now actually glad of), in total honesty I think I only managed one lesson and then I completely forgot to remember (is forgetting to remember a thing?) to do it. You’re probably wondering what the hell I’m going on about but there is a point to this story… You see, the habits we want to adopt are waaayy harder than the bad habits that so quickly take a hold… AND that is the point of my blog post today! TAH DA!!! 🤗
So, I am back baby! Sorry about the HUGEEEE break that I have had but in all honesty, time just really slipped away from me and also, it’s super hard to get new material together now my photographer lives half way across the world… but guess what? I visited San Francisco, so I got my photographer back for a blog special… it’s landed, my new blog post for the New Year! 🤗
So, after a 2 week absence, I have finally got over my night shifts enough to focus on something remotely creative, hence why a new post is coming your way today. Night shifts have well and truly done me in, it seemed that if I wasn’t in work, I was in bed so yes, not very much time to think up a new post or even just think in general, so apologies for that. However, I have had a week to get over it now and didn’t want to be away any longer, so I am bringing you this very pink infused post and you will see that there is yet another outing for this trusty jacket.
So, we need to talk about Red… it is literally the colour of the moment and it’s sticking around for the foreseeable with it being a HUGE trend for this A/W. I know you have seen it all over the high street and are dying to nail a full red outfit… believe me I am working on it!
I don’t know about you but I’ve always found it difficult to dress for nights out, more so as I’m getting older. Living in the city you don’t really go on a night out, they just kind of happen, one drink leads to 2 and next thing it’s 3 am and you don’t know where your shoe is. So as they are never planned I never really get dressed up and now when the opportunity arises I always seem to dress down and play it safe.
I’ve never been someone who goes full on glamour, it’s just not me but I do like taking the time to get dressed up and look different because truthfully 90% of the time I look like shite! When I first started working as a VM I had all these ideas that it would be super glamorous and I’d wear amazing clothes everyday, in reality I wear no make-up (having to be in work at 7 am, I’d rather have the extra 10 minutes in bed) and paint stained clothes… like all day err-day! So when events do come up that I can look that bit special I want to take the time to get it just right… The problem is that I really struggle with what to wear… Nelly and Kelly’s Dilemma right?!
So, this is it, the FINAL Italy look and can we just take a moment to appreciate these earrings, I just know that Pat Butcher would be so proud! Do you remember that time when I was trying to egg myself on to wear statement earrings? Well look at me now! Haha! I adore these earrings, I remember the first time I clapped eyes on them and I came over all gooey, a waitress was wearing them (well not these actual ones coz that would probably be a bit gross if I literally swiped them out of her lobes) and I was just like yaaassssss!!! And then the very next day I stumbled across the jewellery shop she had bought them in, hand made in Capoliveri, Italy which of course made them even more special… it was like fate! They were €30 which for someone like me was quite expensive but weirdly money doesn’t seem real on holiday so you feel like you can just blow it on drinks and extravagant treats (ok, it isn’t that extravagant) but in the end Theo bought them for me as a surprise gift so none of what I’m chatting on about even matters, haha! Never the less, they are one of my fave gifts ever and all the more meaningful as they were from my love, hand made in the country that we love… dream! ❤
So after last weeks diversion, we are back in Italy for the penultimate look and we are going large with double pleats! I remember this day vividly and not for good reasons… I was so poorly from a bad experience with seafood but I won’t go into too much detail here as some of you might be enjoying your tea. Let’s just say once the guy said “Oh yeah, this is the best fish stew as you can just leave it in the pot on the stove for 3 days” I knew I’d made a huge mistake! So a double pleat, block colour combo was born out of a delirious state of (sea)food poisoning!
So, this is my fave look from Italy AND I didn’t even plan it, just chucked it together and it worked! Don’t you just LOVE it when that happens? (Lots of excitable caps going on right now.)
Why is this my favourite look I hear you ask? Well. I shall tell you for why… Not only does this outfit mark the first outing of these glorious shoesies but it has also brought life back into this very old pair of trousers. I have had these pants around 6 years!!! And there have been many times when I have been on the verge of throwing them out but something has always just stopped me. They quickly became ‘the holiday pant’ as I didn’t really know how to wear them in everyday life and then this happened! 👆🏼 An outfit which I would actually wear on home soil, including the trousers I have not been able to part with for 6 years. Also, seen as though I am loving a yellow accessory right now, the yellow accent breaking up the monochrome just gives me life… yellow is definitely my colour of the season.
So many reasons to love this outfit.
So the 3rd outfit from Italy is leaving me feeling blue, as I’m missing being on holiday so much. Like seriously, my tan has completely faded, I’m cold all the time and I’ve not lost any of my holiday weight as I’m too depressed to diet… if anything I’m even bigger now but I daren’t step on the scales to confirm it! Life is poop but at least I can show you some pretty pictures of an Italian stairway.
