Life: Has technology given us commitment Issues?

FullSizeRender 26

I used to buy fashion magazines religiously, now I can’t even remember the last time I purchased one, or even read one to be quite honest. Nowadays, everything seems to have become quicker, information is at the click of a button, you no longer have to trawl through pages of adverts to get to the article you desire, it’s there on your screen in a matter of seconds (depending on the speed of your internet). But lately I find myself dreaming of a passionate tryst with a glossy mag, flicking through the pages, breathing in that fresh page scent, sourcing the trends that are to become part of our very being over the following months (even if we despise them at first… hello statement earrings!). Yes, it’s so much easier nowadays to go online for information but I miss the romance of reading, the feeling that you can actually complete something in it’s totality, because lets face it you could never finish all the articles on the internet.

Outfit: Power Couple!

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

I don’t know about you but I’ve always found it difficult to dress for nights out, more so as I’m getting older. Living in the city you don’t really go on a night out, they just kind of happen, one drink leads to 2 and next thing it’s 3 am and you don’t know where your shoe is. So as they are never planned I never really get dressed up and now when the opportunity arises I always seem to dress down and play it safe.

I’ve never been someone who goes full on glamour, it’s just not me but I do like taking the time to get dressed up and look different because truthfully 90% of the time I look like shite! When I first started working as a VM I had all these ideas that it would be super glamorous and I’d wear amazing clothes everyday, in reality I wear no make-up (having to be in work at 7 am, I’d rather have the extra 10 minutes in bed) and paint stained clothes… like all day err-day! So when events do come up that I can look that bit special I want to take the time to get it just right…Β The problem is that I really struggle with what to wear… Nelly and Kelly’s Dilemma right?!

Outfit: And it was all (neon) yellow

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

So, I have yet to find anything yellow to add to my Spring/Summer wardrobe so I have compensated for this by posing in front of a very yellow door (shutter?)… how bou dah?

You may remember my post from a couple of weeks ago where I talked about the Spring/Summer trends I am championing this year (read it here if not), the midi skirt was one of them and I’ve finally got round to styling this one, even though it has been lurking in my wardrobe for months now.

Outfit: Happy Pants

The sun was shining this weekend in Manchester (as in last weekend when these pics were taken – the weather this weekend sucked!), so I put my happy pants on and drank Prosecco… what else is there to do when the sun is shining really?

Who else thinks these pants are super fun? I am so in love with them, even if some people think I look like a pirate (not mentioning any names), but seriously crushing so hard on them! I, along with the rest of the fashion world, have gone completely ruffle mad, it’s a trend that’s really having a “fashion moment” right now and I have fallen for it hook, line and sinker! (Is that a pirate phrase? I don’t actually know… oh the irony!)

Outfit: Denim

So this week, I’m talking more about denim because let’s face it, there is no hiding from it! It’s back in a huge way this spring/summer and I for one have found a renewed love for all things denim.

I recently purchased these distressed light denim jeans from H&M with the very of the moment frayed stepped hem, I love these jeans and although they are really quite similar to my trusty Levi’s (as my boyfriend pointed out) I still had to have them. They tick all the denim trend boxes, keeping us right at the fashion fore-front and let’s face it they go with everything so they’re more of an investment than anything else (pretty much the line I use for every guilt ridden purchase I make – yes, this neon pink visor will go with absolutely everything*).

Outfit: Birthday Suit

So, this week has been a long and treacherous week of birthday celebrations (it’s such a chore to constantly eat, drink and be merry for that amount of time)Β which has resulted in me sitting in bed on a Sunday evening, realising that I haven’t put a blog post out this week and trying to fight the fear of returning to work after spending most of the weekend in a weird drunken, paranoid haze… So 29 is clearlyΒ going to be the year where I start adulting for reals.

Hangover aside though, I have had a truly wonderful birthday this year and rather than feeling scared at being another year closer to the big 30 I actually feel super happy. I think it’s so easy to concentrate on the things that may be missing from our lives instead of realising the truly amazing things we already have going for us… I’m getting seriously deep here peeps!

Outfit: Cropped Kick Flares

So, ‘Cropped Kick Flares’ – the 3 words that I have dreaded since crushing on this denim style only to try them on and realise that they make me look like a bell(end), no but seriously, the actual shape of a bell… well flattering… πŸ””

I bought these jeans last summer and even though I absolutely love them, I just haven’t had a clue how to style them, the problem being that although I love the shape of them, unfortunately the shapeΒ does not love me. The kick flare really throws my proportions off, making my legs look shorter and thighs bigger which of course is not what you want. However, one Sunday morning I had a light bulb moment…

Outfit: Big Sleeves

So, hands up if you’ve ever had the joy of putting fishnet tights on… Fun hey? Like seriously there has got to be a better way *makes note to invent some sort of toe shield* it’s just too difficult, so much so, I refused to take them off when I was trying on clothes later that day (catching yourself in fishnet tights and not much else isn’t the best way to spend a Saturday, I must admit).

Any-who, all for the sake of fashion. Why am I so in love with fishnet tights again though? It’s like one of those trends that you really did think had had its day and then its back again and like cooler than ever… I even wanted to do one of those casual ‘lifting top up’ photo’s to show them peeking out over my waistband but do not fear, I refrained from that one!
